New Delhi: India has reported a slight rise in Covid infections on Tuesday. The country registered 30,615 fresh COVID cases (11% higher than yesterday's numbers), 82,988 recoveries, and 514 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra
Maharashtra recorded 2,831 fresh COVID-19 cases, including 351 Omicron infections, and 35 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The addition of new cases took the tally of infections to 78,47,746 and the death toll to 1,43,451, the state health department said.
The state is now left with 30,547 active cases after 8,695 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, which raised the tally of overall recoveries to 76,69,772.
Mumbai did not record any new death linked to COVID-19 for a second time in 2022 on Tuesday, while 235 more people tested positive for the infection, the city civic body said.
According to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bulletin, with the new addition, the tally of coronavirus infections in the city jumped to 10,54,477, while the death toll remained unchanged at 16,685.
Earlier on January 2, the metropolis had reported zero fatalities and for a second time this year, no death linked to coronavirus has been reported in the last 24 hours.
Delhi
The national capital on Tuesday registered a slight increase in Covid cases. Delhi on Tuesday reported 756 fresh COVID-19 cases and five deaths, while the positivity rate stood at 1.52 per cent, according to a PTI report.
With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,52,662 and the death toll climbed to 26,081, according to the city's health department.
The number of COVID-19 tests conducted a day ago stood at 49,792.
Delhi had on Monday reported 586 cases with a positivity rate of 1.37 per cent, and four deaths.
