President Droupadi Murmu is set to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on a three-day visit from August 5 to 8, 2023. As part of her visit, President is set to meet mahouts and cavadies in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, address the convocation of University of Madras, rename Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Chennai, and inaugurate a linear accelerator in JIPMER and a 50-bed hospital in Villanur of Puducherry.


According to ANI, President Murmu will first visit Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu on August 5. During her visit, President Murmu is expected to interact with mahouts and cavadies, as per a report on ANI. 


President Murmu will address the 165th convocation of the University of Madras in Chennai on August 6. The President will attend the convocation at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai on Sunday from 10.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Later in the day, Murmu will rename the Durbur Hall of Raj Bhavan as Bharatiyar Mandapam. She will also unveil the portrait of Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharatiyar. 


Murmu will meet the members of PVTGs of Tamil Nadu. 


On August 7, Murmu is expected to inaugurate Linear Accelerator of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) and virtually inaugurate the 50-bed hospital at Villanur in Puducherry. The hospital was set up under National AYUSH Mission.


Puducherry government is also set to organise a reception in honour of the President.


On August 8, Murmu will go to the Matrimandir at Auroville to inaugurate a conference. The conference is on 'Aspiring for Supermind in the City of Consciousness'.

Earlier, President Murmu was scheduled to open the Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital in Guindy. TN Chief Minister Stalin paid Murmu a visit to Delhi and invited her to the occasion. However, she could not attend the event on the scheduled date since she had prior commitments.
