Chennai: The winter-like days have arrived in Chennai and the residents have begun to use warm clothes to brace for the colder weather conditions since the cold North winds have arrived early. As a result of the winds, the minimum temperature in Chennai at night has touched 20 C°. 


According to a report on Times of India, the IMD has predicted chill weather for the next two days with a dip of a few degrees below the normal level. 


The temperature is likely to drop by 2-3 C° in interior districts and western ghats while in coastal regions the mercury is likely to dip 1-2 C°.


The IMD said, "In Chennai for the next 48 hours, the city is likely to remain cloudy in the mornings while it will be clear in the evenings and nights. The maximum temperature in Chennai will be 29 C° while the minimum temperature will be 20 C°."

On Monday, the mercury dropped 0.2 C° and 0.6 C° in Chennai's Nungambakkam.


The reason for the weather change, the weather bloggers say is due to the dry weather persisting over South India. 


An independent weather blogger in the name Chennai Rains said, "Parts of North Tamil Nadu likely to see night-time temperatures stay 3/ 4°C below normal conditions while #Chennai & suburbs are likely to see min. temperatures stay below 20°C over most parts for the next couple of days as Dry Weather persists over S. India."




Another weather blogger Pradeep John said, "Cold Nights to continue in North Interior TN, South &  Interior Karnataka, and the hill-station of TN, Kerala, and Vizag hill regions of AP."
