Chennai: A 32-year-old man who was invited for having biryani fest at his friend's home on Ramzan Day not just enjoyed the sumptuous biryani but also swallowed jewelry worth Rs 1.45 lakh in Chennai. After the incident came to light, the doctors removed the jewellry by giving enema but still a diamond pendant is stuck inside him.


According to a report on The New Indian Express, Anisha* (Name changed) invited her friends for having biryani fest on Ramzan Day on Tuesday. 


Her friend Riya* came along with her boyfriend Prabha* for having the fest. Apart from Riya and Prabha, a few of Anisha's friends also came to the feast.


However, when the guests left the home, Anisha found out that her jewels including a diamond necklace, gold chain and a diamond pendant were missing from the cupboard. 


Soon she asked about it all her friends and zeroed down on Prabha to be the culprit. She also registered a complaint with Virugambakkam police. 


Based on the complaint, the police questioned Prabha who then admitted to swallowing the jewels. The police also took him and performed a scan which revealed the presence of jewels in his stomach.

Following this, the doctors gave enema and laxatives to Prabha and retrieved the necklace worth Rs 95,000 and gold worth Rs 25,000. However, the pendant is still stuck within him and doctors are trying to retrieve the pendant too.


Later, Anisha withdrew the complaint since she did not want to proceed with the case. 


Prabha who was working in Dubai before the pandemic is currently unemployed. The crime also took place when Prabha was under the influence of alcohol.
