New Delhi: During a roadshow in support of BJP candidate Pon Radhakrishnan in the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha constituency, Home Minster Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the DMK, accusing them of disrespecting 'Sanatan Dharma' and hurting the sentiments of the people. Shah criticised the DMK for making derogatory remarks about the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, urging voters to reject the Dravidian party in the upcoming April 19 Lok Sabha election.

"The DMK party has hurt the sentiments of people by making insulting remarks on Sanatan Dharma. But on the other hand, the BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi respected everyone and believed in unity,” PTI quoted Shah as saying. Shah, who addressed the cadres from his campaign vehicle, invoked the name of Lord Ram, before targetting the ruling dispensation.

Hundreds of BJP cadres, buoyed by Amit Shah's visit,  joined the roadshow from Mettukadai Junction, Thuckalay, to the Old Bus Stand in Kanyakumari. From his specially designed vehicle adorned with the party's Lotus symbol, Shah greeted supporters while chants of Modi again, Bharat Mata Ki Jai, and 'Ponnar again. Radhakrishnan, a former union minister, is fondly addressed as Ponnar by supporters.

"Modi was taking the country on the path of progress.  People in Tamil Nadu were chanting the chaar sau par (over 400 seats)", Shah said, alluding to the BJP's target of achieving the said number of constituencies.  Shah also sought the people to vote for the party's candidate for the Vilavankode by-poll, V S Nandini, and ensure her victory, as per PTI.

Make Modi, PM For The Third Time: Shah

Amit Shah condemned the pervasive corruption within Tamil Nadu, pointing fingers at both the DMK and AIADMK. “I urge all of you to make Modi Ji the Prime Minister for the third time and help us make Bharat the world's third largest economy. Press the 'Lotus' button and make us achieve '400 Paar', this time,” Shah appealed and added that Kanyakumari too should be part of the success story.

Shah emphasised that Tamil Nadu's path to development and prosperity lies in supporting the BJP. He said that PM Modi has been diligently working to uphold and advance Tamil culture, language, and heritage, urging the state's residents to recognize the BJP's commitment to their interests and aspirations.
