J Jayalalithaa, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and one of the iconic leaders in Tamil Nadu's political arena, was remembered on her 75th birth anniversary on Saturday. Several leaders including AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswami and Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai paid tributes to Jayalalithaa on the occasion.  














Fondly referred to as 'Amma' (Mother) and 'Puratchi Thalavi' (Revolutionary Leader), Jayalalithaa was also celebrated as an "iron lady." She died on December 5, 2016, after an extensive 75-day treatment, marking the end of an era.


AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami garlanded the statue of party's former General Secretary and former CM of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa at the party headquarters in Chennai. 


Echoing her famous motto "I am because of the people, I am for the people (Makkalaal Naan, Makkalukkagave Naan)," Palaniswami, in a statement, urged party members and officials to labor tirelessly day and night, aiming for victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Jayalalithaa's close aide and former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala paid floral tribute to the former CM's portrait in her newly constructed house in Chennai Poes Garden. Expelled AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam also paid floral tributes to the statue of Jayalalithaa in Chennai.


TN BJP chief Annamalai shared an image of the AIADMK leader in his social media post and remembered her.


Jayalalithaa was renowned for her numerous welfare initiatives, including the highly acclaimed 'Amma' Canteen and 'Amma' Pharmacy, as well as the provision of gold for 'Thali' (Mangalsutra) for underprivileged women all of which garnered immense popularity among the people.
