Coimbatore: After a three-week strict lockdown, Tamil Nadu government had eased the lockdown curbs and the Chief Minister MK Stalin had also warned of withdrawing the relaxations if the Lockdown guidelines are violated. But, still people in various parts of the state have started taking the warnings for granted and hence police had to force people to stay indoors. One such scenario happened in Coimbatore, to make the violators realize the importance of lockdowns, the Coimbatore Police tool them to mortuary to show where they will end up if the lockdown relaxations are taken for granted.


The police claimed that they have taken offenders to the mortuary on Monday to create awareness among violators. With a declining trend of Covid cases in the state, the government has decided to relax lockdown norms. But, Coimbatore continuous to record the highest number of cases in the state.

On Sunday, the district reported 1,895 fresh COVID-19 cases. In comparison to Chennai which recorded 935 cases, Coimbatore's COVID situation is still grim. A total of 19 people in the district died due to the virus with a total of 1,84,188 recoveries so far. In various parts of the state, police have sorted to punish the lockdown violators in unique ways.


Meanwhile, the state government has extended lockdown with some eases in curbs but the restrictions to continue in 11 districts, where the Covid number and the positivity rate hasn't come down.
