IMD Predicts Mild To Moderate Rainfall In Parts of TN, Puducherry For Next Four Days

IMD still advised fishermen to not venture into Andaman sea and along Myanmar coast on Tuesday.

Chennai: The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted mild to moderate rainfall for the next four days till March 26 in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry due to atmospheric air circulation and heatwaves. As a result of changes in weather conditions, IMD also predicted an increase in temperature by 2-4 °C for the next 24 hours in parts of Tamil Nadu.

According to a bulletin from Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, Senthamarai Kannan, Director of the Area Cyclone Warning Centre said, "Parts of Chennai may remain cloudy for the next 48 hours and it may likely experience mild showers. The maximum temperature will be 36 °C while the minimum temperature will be 27 °C." 

Meanwhile, the deep depression over north Andaman Sea continued to progress northwards and is likely to cross Myanmar coast sometime on Tuesday afternoon, IMD said.

Till late Monday evening, the IMD maintained that the deep depression was likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm on Tuesday evening and continue to move nearly northwards along, off the Andaman Islands towards Myanmar and cross Myanmar coast during the early hours of Wednesday.

With the squally winds gusting to 75 kmph over north Andaman sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal, off Myanmar coast and north Andaman islands, the sea condition is likely to be rough.

Therefore, IMD still advised fishermen to not venture into Andaman sea and along Myanmar coast on Tuesday.
