As ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches are scheduled in Chennai, authorities have made preparations for effective traffic management in the city. Chennai Traffic Police have devised traffic detours near the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium, where the game would be played, to minimise inconvenience for commuters. ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is also set to take place in Chennai on October 8, 13, 18, 23, and 27. On all game days, the traffic detours would be in place from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m., according to Chennai Traffic Police, the Times of India reported.

India and Australia will face off in the sixth game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The game will begin at 2:00 p.m.

As per the traffic diversion plan, Victoria Hostel Road (Canal Road) and Bells Road will be made one-way. MTC buses from Kannagi Statue will be diverted towards the Ratna Cafe Junction in Bharathi Salai. Additionally, Bells Road and Wallajah Road will be used as diversion routes for traffic coming from the Rathna Cafe Junction. Vehicles will not be permitted to continue from the Bharathi Salai-Bells Road Junction in the direction of the Kannagi Statue.

Vehicles bearing the letters M, T, and V travelling from Anna Salai to Wallajah Road will not be permitted to travel on Bells Road in accordance with the various types of passes issued by the Chennai Traffic Police; instead, they will be diverted to the Labour Statue towards Kamarajar Salai, Kannagi Statue, and Bharathi Salai. However, cars having passes displaying the letters B and R coming from Bharathi Salai to Wallajah Road would not be permitted to pass the Labour Statue in the direction of Wallajah Road. They will be told to go to the Pattabiraman Gate and MRTS parking lot instead.
