Chennai: A day after Lokayukta arrested BJP MLA’s son for receiving a bribe and recovered over Rs 6 crore of unaccounted cash from his residence, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said that Lokayukta has all details and everything should come out.
Talking to ANI, Basavaraj Bommai said, “Lokayukta has raided the son of an MLA. All I can say is that the reason for restarting the Lokayukta is to curb corruption in the state, without Lokayukta many such cases were found and closed during Congress rule.”
“I have said earlier also that an independent and fair investigation will be done. That's why our aim is to punish the culprits. Lokayukta has all the details, whose money was it, where did it come from, everything should come out,” he said.
On Thursday, Lokayukta arrested Prashanth Maadal, son of BJP MLA Maadal Virupakshappa, after he got caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh. The officials also searched the residence and office of Prashanth Mandal following which they recovered Rs 6 crore of unaccounted cash.

Lokayukta received a complaint on Thursday last week alleging that Prashanth was taking bribes for issuing tenders. The Lokayukta officials set a trap to find out the truth and they visited the spot after a week of planning. On reaching the venue, the officials caught Prashanth red-handed while getting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh.
They also recovered Rs 6 crore during raids in the residence and office of Prashanth.
