Chennai: Mild tremors felt in Tamil Nadu after an earthquake of 5.1 magnitude on the richter scale rocked Bay of Bengal. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported the epicentre to be around 300 kms from Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada port.


NCS in a tweet said that the quake was recorded at a depth of 10 kms and it happened on Tuesday afternoon at 12.35 PM. People have taken it Twitter about the tremors felt.






According to preliminary reports, the quake was felt in Nungambakkam and Poonamallee areas of central Chennai. It was reported that employees at their work rushed out of their office buildings.
