DMK MP Kanimozhi, who is set to visit Manipur along with the Opposition delegation, said that they have received permission to meet the people who have been forced to flee their homes to save their lives when the clash broke out in the Northeastern state. She said that they have also sought permission to meet the Governor and the delegation will be submitting a report on everything that they have seen in order to insist Governor to take the required measures. 


Around 20 MPs from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha of the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) set out on a two-day on-the-spot assessment of the situation in Manipur on Saturday.


According to ANI, Kanimozhi said, "Over 50,000 people have been forced to flee from their homes to save their lives and now they are in camps. We are going to meet the people of Manipur and tell them that we stand with them and we are fighting for them."


“We have got permission and we are going to meet the people. We are Indian citizens and we are representatives of the people. So it is our duty to stand for the people.” she said.

Kanimozhi said that they have also sought permission to meet Manipur Governor. 


Demanding the response of PM, She said, "We expect the PM to reply in Parliament after the discussion on Manipur," says DMK MP Kanimozhi who is part of a delegation of Opposition MPs visiting Manipur today.
