Chennai: Seven persons linked with Madras Care Centre, a de-addiction centre in Royapettah, were arrested for beating an inmate to death on Tuesday. The Anna Salai police are also on the lookout to find the owner of the centre who is on the run.

According to a report on Times of India, M Raji, an auto-rickshaw driver of Ambedkar Nagar, was admitted to Madras Care Centre in Chennai since he was addicted to liquor.

A few days ago, Raji was discharged from the centre but he once again took to consuming alcohol. On Monday, Kala (47), wife of Raji, learned that her husband was lying on road after consuming liquor.

Hence, Kala immediately alerted the de-addiction centre which sent a few workers to bring Raji back to the centre.
