Chennai: Five people died after a car collided with a truck near Veppur in Cuddalore district on Tuesday. The bodies of the deceased persons were recovered by the police and sent to a Government hospital.


According to ANI, Cuddalore police said, “Five people were killed after vehicles collided with each other near Veppur of Cuddalore district. Bodies were recovered from the car and sent to a Government hospital. Further details awaited.” 



The car while traveling at a speed near Veppur collided with a truck after another truck hit the car from behind. In the impact, the car crashed and resulted in the death of five members. The five persons of the family included two women and two children

The incident took place at a location where the bridge construction works were underway. As a result, the commuters were advised to ride their vehicles at a much lower speed.  


Meanwhile, Cuddalore SP Sakthi Ganesan is currently conducting an investigation at the accident spot.


Earlier, four people from Tamil Nadu who were on their way to Gokarna from Goa after attending New Year celebrations died when their car collided on Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus on January 1. 


The four deceased persons were identified as Arun Pandian, Vipul, Mohammad and Shekaran. 


Another passenger who was seriously injured has been adnitted to the hospital. 


The mishap took place after the car in which they were travelling hit a median and rammed into a bus on New Year's day.
