Chennai: On Monday morning, a couple reached Chengalpattu Collectorate and immediately staged a dharna alleging that Chengalpattu Government Hospital did not provide quality treatment for COVID-19 patients. However, a closer look at the couple by passersby made them realise that the couple still had Chinese butterfly trip needles on their hands and further questioning revealed that both of them were positive for novel coronavirus and they came to the collectorate directly from Chengalpattu Hospital.
According to a report by ABP Nadu, the husband and wife came to Chengalpattu Collectorate on Monday and alleged that coronavirus patients were not provided quality treatment at Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital. Further, the couple alleged that the wards were not maintained properly and they were not given quality treatment.
However, while probing them, it was learned that both of them were positive for coronavirus and were admitted to Chengalpattu Government Hospital two days ago. Immediately, all the people nearby were taken by shock and the officials immediately informed the hospital authorities about the couple and rushed a 108 ambulance to the collectorate.

When contacted, the dean of Chengalpattu hospital said, all facilities are available in the hospital. However, the patient who was receiving treatment-- next to the couple--died of COVID-19. Hence, the couple panicked and that might have been the reason why they started a protest at the Collectorate.
Meanwhile, the couple was then taken to a private hospital in Potheri and were admitted for treatment.
