Chennai: The Coimbatore Jamath visited Kottai Eswaran temple, where the car blast took place in the city, as a sign of communal harmony and interacted with the priests about the Coimbatore car blast incident. They also condemned the blast and said that such incidents cannot disturb communal harmony.
According to PTI, a 13- member delegation including scholars of Coimbatore Jamath went to the temple and met the head priest Sundaresh and temple secretary Prabhakaran.
After the meeting, Inayatullah, Jamath President, addressing the reporters said, "The meeting with the priest and others will serve as a platform to maintain communal harmony and peace among all sections of the citizens, irrespective of religion, caste and creed."
He also said that none on earth can break the bond between Hindus and Muslims.
The meeting of Jamath members with the temple priest comes at a time when a cylinder in a car driven by a man named Jamesha Mubin exploded near the temple on October 23. The incident sent shock waves across the state.
Later, the probe revealed that Mubin was already questioned by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2019 for his alleged connection with ISIS.
Five men including Mohammad Thalka (25), Mohammad Asarudheen (25), Mohammad Riyaz (27), Feroz Ismail (27) and Mohammad Navaz Ismail (27) were arrested by the police. On October 27, another person identified as Afasar Khan was arrested in connection with the case. Afasar was Jamesha Mubin's cousin.
The probe was later transferred to NIA.
Earlier, NIA investigation revealed that Jamesha and his associates were planning to blow up a place and purchased chemicals for making IED bombs from e-commerce portals. A CCTV footage from Mubin’s home also showed five members transporting cylinder and other substances to his car, the night before the blast.
