Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin will inaugurate the newly constructed Jallikattu stadium in Madurai by the end of this month, said Tamil Nadu Minister P Moorty on Wednesday. Further, he said, a separate tournament will be held at the newly constructed Jallikattu arena. It is expected that the CM will inaugurate the new jallikattu arena near Alanganallur on January 24, as per reports.


Tamil Nadu Minister P. Moorty said, "CM MK Stalin will inaugurate the newly constructed Jallikattu stadium in Madurai by the end of this month."

"Alanganallur Jallikattu will be conducted in Alanganallur village as per traditional custom. A separate tournament will be held at the newly constructed Jallikattu arena...A few people were injured in the three-day Jallikattu competition but there was no casualty," he said.

Earlier, CM Stalin said that he would inaugurate the stadium and watch the sport. The stadium built near Alanganallur in Madurai district is named after former CM of TN M Karunanidhi.


On January 16, Minister Moorty flagged off the jallikattu event held in Palamedu in Madurai district. 840 bulls were freed from Vaadivaasal, and over 1,000 tamers took part in the sport. The winners strolled out of the arena with a gold coin, bicycle, chair, pot, mattress, and other things. Bull owners were also rewarded with matching rewards. P Moorthy, the State Registration Minister, presented the prizes.


On January 17, Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin flagged off jallikattu event in Madurai's Alanganallur village. He also presented winners with awards including ring with images of CM.
