Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted that light to moderate rainfall will continue in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Thiruvallur districts. However, the short spells of rainfall experienced in parts of Chennai from Wednesday have already led to waterlogging the city. 


In a tweet, IMD said, "Cloud sky with light to moderate rain spell is very likely to continue  in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts."

On Wednesday, IMD said that the mild to moderate rainfall will continue in parts of Chennai, Puducherry and Karaikal till October 2. The IMD said, parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will experience mild showers coupled with thunderstorms on Thursday.  


Following this, parts of north Chennai, Egmore, OMR, Anna Nagar, West Mambalam, Abhiramapuram, Perungudi, Nungambakkam and Ashok Nagar reported waterlogging. 


The fishermen warned fishermen from venturing into the sea due to the squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph over north Tamilnadu coast till October 2.
