Chennai: A miscreant stabbed an RPF woman constable on her neck in a moving train after she objected him against boarding a ladies' compartment on a suburban train at Chennai Beach station. The constable was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment and she is currently said to be stable.


According to a report in the Times of India, the woman cop was identified as constable Asirva. On Tuesday at 8.45 pm, while the suburban train was about to depart from Chennai Beach to Chengalpet, a miscreant boarded the ladies' compartment of the train. The constable on duty, Asirva who was in the compartment immediately asked him to get down from the compartment as it was reserved for ladies. 


However, the man instead of listening to the cop suddenly took out a knife and stabbed her in the neck. The accused then jumped off the train and rushed away.

The cop got off the train and alerted her colleague who rushed the injured to a private hospital. 


The Chennai Egmore police have registered a case under the sections including Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and started the investigation. The police have formed a special team to nab the accused with the help of CCTV footage.

The safety issues for women traveling in suburban trains are increasing day by day despite the reservation of a ladies compartment in the trains. In January 2022, a woman journalist alleged that a man did an obscene act in front of her while she was traveling in the ladies compartment of a suburban train.
