Former Tamil Nadu Mayor and father of a tourist from Tamil Nadu announced a reward of Rs 1 crore to anyone who finds his missing son Vetri Duraisamy. Former Chennai Mayor Duraisamy's son Vetri went missing after the car in which he was traveling fell into Sutlej river in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district, officials said on Tuesday.


Vetri Duraisamy, one of the two tourists from Tamil Nadu, went missing after his vehicle plunged approximately 200 meters into the river after the driver lost control of the vehicle.


According to reports, the vehicle in which Vetri was traveling veered off the road and fell into the Satluj river near Pangi Nallah on Sunday. Tragically, the driver lost his life in the accident and one of the tourists sustained injuries while Vetri remains missing.


"I have received a WhatsApp message from the missing tourist Vetri's father Saidai Duraisamy, a former mayor of Chennai. He has announced a reward of Rs 1 crore to anyone who finds his son. His trusted people have also contacted me in this regard," Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Sharma told the PTI on Tuesday.


Duraisamy has also appealed to local residents to assist in locating his son. The vehicle, en route to Shimla from Kaza, met with the accident. One of the three tourists, Gopinath, sustained severe injuries and was promptly transferred to a hospital in Shimla. The body of the driver, identified as Tanjin, was recovered on Monday. Search efforts are ongoing to locate the missing tourist, as confirmed by the police.


Officials said that search teams have discovered human remains along the riverbank, which have been forwarded to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Junga for DNA testing and analysis. Police stated that these remains may belong to the missing person.
