The international departures were affected due to a server issue at Chennai International Airport on Wednesday. The technical glitch resulted in the delay of 9 outbound services and affected 1,500 international passengers, reported PTI. The technical issue which was noticed around 1:30 AM was fixed by 6 AM. 


According to a report on PTI, the issue affected only international departures. 


An official told PTI that the printing of boarding passes and baggage handling were impacted. As a result, flights to destinations including Colombo, Dubai and Bangkok suffered delays.


A passenger affected by the delay sought assistance from the airlines after it appeared like the commuter might miss a connecting flight. 


A user of X, formerly known as Twitter said, "@etihad  i am currently having a delay to Abu Dhabi from Chennai Airport and they're saying there's a chance of me missing my connecting flight to Amsterdam. Is there a way, you could help me out?"

The airlines replied to the affected passenger. Etihad Airways said, "@etihad H there, please reach out to our team upon arrival, and they will be happy to assist you further. *Kacy."


Around 10 flights were diverted from the Chennai airport in June as a result of the severe nighttime rains that hit Chennai.  As a result of the severe rain, flights that were scheduled to arrive from a number of overseas locations, including Singapore, Abu Dhabhi, Sharjah, Dubai, Colombo, Muscat, Doha, and London, were diverted to Bengaluru airport. In the same month, around 150 passengers were stranded after Delhi-bound Air India flight was cancelled arbitrarily.
