Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to launch Tamil Nadu BJP's six-month padayatra 'En Mann, En Makkal' (My land, my people) to gain the support of the people ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2024 on Friday. For inaugurating the event, Amit Shah is likely to reach Tamil Nadu in the evening and later launch the padayatra from Rameswaram, a Hindu pilgrimage site on the southern tip of Tamil Nadu.

According to PTI, BJP state president Annamalai said that the padayatra will cover 234 constituencies in the state.

Annamalai said: "The campaign will be conducted in five phases to cover all the 39 Parliamentary constituencies and we have planned to conclude it on January 11, 2024, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. After Amit Shahji's inauguration, the campaign will commence from Rameswaram on July 29."

Annamalai is expected to lead the padayatra covering 1,770 km by foot. The BJP members are likely to cover the remaining distance in rural areas by vehicle.

Annamalai said that at least one central minister will speak at each of the 10 major rallies scheduled during the yatra.

The state BJP chief said that the BJP members will highlight the good governance of PM and urge them to support the return of Modi as the PM for the third consecutive term.

He also said that they will elaborate on the efforts carried out by BJP in each of the constituencies.

The BJP members are likely to distribute one lakh copies of the book 'What Did Modi Do'.

According to party state vice president Karu Nagarajan, the saffron party seeks to engage the populace, wean them off of the DMK's sway, and draw them closer to the BJP.
