Chennai: Fans of actors Ajith Kumar and Vijay gathered at the theatres to enjoy the first-day first show of the movies, Thunivu and Varisu respectively, across the state. A large number of fans of both actors stuck posters, performed pooja on the banners and rejoiced the release. 


This is the first time after eight years that the movies of both actors have been released on the same day. 


Before 1.30 am on Wednesday, fans of Ajith Kumar and Vijay gathered at the theatre, burst crackers, stuck posters, danced, played music and performed paal abishekam and pooja to the posters of the heroes in Chennai and theatres across the state.

In Tamil Nadu, actors Vijay and Ajith have a large fanbase and very often the fans of both actors are seen sparring with each other to establish the supremacy of their favorite actors. 


However, the fandom turned ugly in some places. A fan of Ajith Kumar died after suffering a fall from a lorry while dancing near Rohini theatre on Wednesday, according to ABP Nadu.


A few fans of actor Vijay walked on their knees to the theatre to watch the movie Varisu


According to ANI, "#WATCH | Tamil Nadu: Fans of Ajith Kumar tore posters of Vijay starrer #Varisu & fans of Vijay tore posters of Ajith Kumar starrer #Thunivu outside a movie theatre in Chennai. Both films have released on the same day after 8 yrs, people gathered in large numbers to watch them."
