Days after AIADMK and BJP officially ended their four-year-long alliance in the state, the Dravidian major and the saffron party are engaged in various activities to gear up for Lok Sabha Elections 2024. While AIADMK split party districts in line with the Assembly constituencies, BJP has decided to discuss the alliance break in the soon-to-be-conducted party's core committee and executive committee meeting in the state.

AIADMK also promoted former Minister Anwar Raja to a higher post.

AIADMK Split Party Districts

The AIADMK on Wednesday split the party districts in the order of Assembly constituencies. AIADMK bifurcated Ranipet into Ranipet East and West. Further, Thiruvannamalai and Thanjavur were divided into four party districts each.

"The changes were made for administrative convenience," AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswami, said in a party release.

AIADMK made A Anwar Raja who rejoined the party last month and Royapuram Mano, a former Congress leader, who joined the party in 2020 as the new organisation secretaries.

Tamil Nadu BJP Core Committee To Discusses Alliance Break

Tamil Nadu BJP's core committee and executive committee are set to meet soon to discuss the alliance break and other political developments in the state. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, BJP national co-incharge of Tamil Nadu, said that AIADMK's decision to part ways with BJP-led NDA was "unfortunate" and the matter will be discussed at the party's state meeting.

He said that he could not comment on the alliance but the central leadership continues to watch the development in Tamil Nadu.

The BJP leader also refused to answer a question on whether the party sought a "status report" on AIADMK parting ways with BJP. However, another BJP senior leader said that BJP leaders in touch with AIADMK might be asked to submit a report on the ground reality. He added that the alliance will be made known only by the high command.

Reddy said, "At present, we are involved in observing the Seva Pakhwada fortnight from September 17 to October 2 (coinciding with the 73rd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting of the respective committees will be convened after October 2."
