Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami visited the AIADMK headquarters for the first time after the General Council Meet in which he was elected as the interim general secretary of the party on Thursday. Notably, the visit of Palaniswami also comes a day after CB-CID sleuths visited the office to collect details regarding the AIADMK Headquarters clash.

On Wednesday, a party release also called on AIADMK members including district secretaries, MPs, MLAs and former Ministers to take part in the event. On Thursday, AIADMK cadre to mark the arrival of the interim general secretary arranged for performances by folk artists and several partymen gathered at the party office.

Earlier, Madras High Court on July 20 ordered to hand over the keys of party headquarters to EPS.


However, the members of EPS camp did not visit the office to avoid erasing the evidence of the headquarters attack.

On July 11, while AIADMK general council meet was ongoing at a wedding hall in Vanagaram, a clash broke out between the supporters of EPS camp and OPS camp. The Tamil Nadu police immediately tried to calm the situation but the clash turned into a fist-fight. One of the party member suffered injuries in the clash.

Following this, the RDO sealed the office. After 10 days, based on HC order, the RDO handed over the keys to Edappadi Palaniswami’s camp.


Later, MP CVe Shanmugam filed a complaint against Panneerselvam and his associates by alleging that they took away some of the important documents from AIADMK office.
