Chennai: Actor Rajinikanth while leaving for New Delhi on Sunday expressed his happiness over the Government of India conferring him with the prestigious “Dadasaheb Phalke Award”. Addressing the reporters, the actor said that he is happy to get the prestigious award but he currently misses his guru and director K Balachander.

In a separate press release, the actor yet again expressed his gratitude to the government and said he also has another important occasion to look forward to on Monday along with receiving the award, which is to launch the audio-based social networking app designed by his daughter Soundarya Vishagan.


Taking to Twitter, Rajinikanth said, “Tomorrow is an important occasion for me with two special landmarks. One, "Dadasaheb Phalke Award", being conferred upon me by the Government of India because of the love and support of the people.”


“Second, my daughter Soundarya Vishagan, by her Independent efforts has pioneered the making of a very useful app for people called "HOOTE" and she is going to introduce it to the world from India,” he added.

Further, explaining about the app, the actor said, “People can now express through their voice their thoughts, wishes and ideas just like they do in writing in any language of their choice. I am very happy to launch this innovative, useful, and first of its kind the "HOOTE APP" in my voice.”


He also said that he will talk more about both landmark events of his life on Monday.


In the past, Dadasaheb Phalke Award has been given to Amitabh Bachchan (2018), Vinod Khanna (2017), K Viswanath (2016), K Balachander (2010), Sivaji Ganesan (1996), and Asha Bhosle (2000).
