Four people died in an accident where a car and a container truck collided near Thirumangalam in Tamil Nadu's Madurai district, Madurai SP Siva Prasad said, as reported by the news agency ANI. Madurai District Superintendent of Police (SP) Siva Prasad confirmed to ANI and said that four people lost their lives in an accident after a car and a container truck collided near Tirumangalam in the Madurai district.






Earlier on Sunday, in a tragic incident an employee of Masthanpatti toll plaza in Tamil Nadu's Madurai was killed after a speeding truck knocked him down, as reported by ANI.


The deceased Satish Kumar was a resident of Sakhimangalam in the Madurai district. As per the information, the driver lost control of his vehicle due to brake failure. When Satish Kumar at the toll booth tried to stop the truck, it hit him dragging him a few meters. He died on the spot.


In another incident, twenty-six people have been arrested so far in connection with the clash of Pattali Makkal Katchi's (PMK) workers with police personnel in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, said the police. They were produced before the court, which sent them for judicial custody, as reported by ANI.


Two teen were sent to Observation house as per law, the police added.  The clashed occurred when PMK activists staged a protest against land acquisition for the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) on Friday. During the protest PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss was arrested.


Police used water canons and tear gases to control the violence. Later including Anbumani, 197 PMK members were arrested and kept in Mahal then released by evening. 93 cases have been booked in connection with this, said police.
