Kolkata Doctor Death: BJP called for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation saying the West Bengal unit of the party has been already demanding the same. 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met with the family of the deceased who was sexually assaulted and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar medical college.

Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday trained guns on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the sexual assault and murder of a woman postgraduate trainee doctor at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. 

Addressing a press conference, BJP MP Ravishankar Prasad asked the Bengal CM what was happening in her state and asked if there would be a fair investigation. 

"Mamta ji, what is happening in Bengal under your rule? A female doctor was raped, the limit of brutality was crossed and will there be a fair investigation there?... Today, doctors from all over the country are on strike," he said. 

"Mamta ji, in your government, we already know what happens to the opposition during elections. Will you say the same about the misbehaviour with the doctor's daughters there? What is happening in Bengal is the horrifying truth of government terror," he remarked. 

Prasad also called for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation saying the West Bengal unit of the party has been already demanding the same. 

"We demand a CBI inquiry, which the BJP there has asked for. Mamta ji, you repeatedly run away from the CBI, at least give justice to the brutal murder of a dead doctor...," he said. 

Earlier on Monday, resident doctors from various parts of the country including New Delhi staged a protest demanding justice for the victim and swift action in the case. 

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that her government will hand over the case to CBI if police fail to solve the case by Sunday. She also said she wants the case to be tried in a fast track court. 

"If the police are unable to solve this by Sunday, we will hand over the case to the CBI. However, the success rate of the central probe agency is very low," she told reporters after visiting the residence of the deceased doctor.
