According to the information, the child was playing on the road when the accident happened. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Khan took the child to a hospital, where he died during treatment.

According to police officials and eyewitnesses, the boy who was playing nearby suddenly came in front of the speeding car and got hit.

"The boy was grievously injured, and the MP took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. We have arrested the driver of the car Alamgir Mondal and seized the vehicle. A case has also been lodged," a senior district police officer said.

"Child died after being hit by TMC leader Abu Taher Khan's car," said Amiya Kumar Bera, Medical Superintendent, Murshidabad Hospital, as quoted by ANI.

The minister, who was present inside the car, said that the child had come in front of the car when the accident happened.
