New Delhi: A nightclub in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills faced severe criticism after a social media post shared photos and videos of exotic mammals, reptiles, and animals being displayed at the pub, reported news agency PTI.

A microblogging platform user on Monday shared a post on the social media platform stating that the nightclub put up exotic wildlife for display on their premises and requested the police to initiate necessary action.

The post included photos of a snake, a cat, and an iguana. The user said, “Hi @cyberabadpolice, Xora nightclub in Jubilee Hills Road #36 put up exotic wildlife for display in their premises over this weekend. The stories were up on their Instagram page. Please do the needful.”

The user also shared a video with the caption, "Here's video footage of the wildlife on display from the Instagram page of Xora Bar & Kitchen, Jubilee Hills Rd#36 @cyberabadpolice."

Police and forest officials began a probe into the issue after concerns were raised in this regard, according to PTI.

Arvind Kumar, special chief secretary for municipal administration, responded saying, “The audacity is shameful and shocking.” He said he will take the matter up with Telangana DGP, Hyderabad police commissioner, and PCCF, Forest department. To this, the user responded, “Better to set an impactful precedent against such acts and their perpetrators, before it becomes a city-wide trend. Look forward to stern action.”

The club management asserted that they had the necessary documents (of registration/license) with regard to these exotic animals, which were allegedly put up for display on Sunday.

"The inquiry is underway. Forest and police officials are verifying into the entire matter. They (management of the night club) have been told to produce the documents. We will examine and accordingly take further action," a senior official of forest department told PTI.

According to police, further investigations are on.
