Congress leader and former MLA from Rajasthan's Mandalgarh, Vivek Dhakad, died on Thursday. The reason behind his sudden demise is not known yet, sources told ABP News. The family members of the former Mandalgarh MLA have been brought to the hospital, and the police are currently investigating the matter. Sources said that he was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state, and later doctors declared him dead.

According to media reports, he slit the veins in his hand after a family dispute. He was at his home in Subhash Nagar in Bhilwara district, Rajasthan, when he committed such an act due to discord in the family, news agency IANS reported citing officials.

"On receiving information, our team reached the spot, and his body is now in the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital," Shivraj Gurjar, Inspector, Subhas Nagar police station told IANS.

The police officials said that a post-mortem will be conducted. "The family is aggrieved and in pain, so we have not spoken to them so far," the official said, as reported by IANS.

It is to be noted that Dhakad was defeated by the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Gopal Lal Sharma in his recent face-off in the Assembly polls held earlier this year by 8194 votes.

Dhakad had won the by-election to the Mandalgarh constituency by defeating BJP's Shakti Singh Hada in 2018.
