A semi-high-speed Vande Bharat express train will run on the Mumbai-Goa route soon said Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve in a meeting with a delegation of Maharashtra legislators on Friday, reported news agency PTI. According to Danve, the express train will run between Mumbai and Goa on the lines of the ones introduced recently on the Mumbai and Shirdi and Mumbai and Solapur routes.
The minister informed the delegation that the electrification of the Mumbai-Goa railway line has been completed and that the new train service will begin after an inspection.
Several other issues concerning railways in Thane and Konkan region were also discussed during the meeting, reported PTI
The major topics covered during the meeting included allotment of stalls to the railway project-affected persons or their relatives, installing mobile stalls at each railway station for farmers, and raising the height of railway platforms in order to reduce the gap between them and the trains. Flooding due to the railway bridge at Mahad in Raigad also came up for discussion during the meeting.

The delegation also raised other concerns with Danve like the need to extend the Sawantwadi-Diva train service upto Dadar and the rehabilitation of those residing along the railway tracks under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scheme, reported PTI

The legislators also pushed for Thane's Mumbra station to be renamed Mumbra Devi station. Danve promised them that once the state administration files a plan to this effect, action will be taken.
