'Need Workers For Israel Posting, Rs 1.25 L Monthly Wage': Yogi Govt Invites Applicants Amid Labour Shortage

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an urgent call for construction workers to apply for openings in building construction work in Israel.

Imagine being offered a monthly wage of 1.25 lakh, an attractive sum that could potentially transform one's financial landscape. The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled an opportunity that promises precisely this, but with a catch: the work location is Israel. According to a report by news agency IANS, the UP government has initiated an urgent call for construction workers to fill positions in building construction projects located in Israel.

A statement from the UP labour department said, "Construction workers, including raj mistri, tiles workers, shuttering workers, and those skilled in netting, are encouraged to apply. This opportunity arises under the Government of India’s National Skill Development Mission, offering positions in secure environments within Israel," as reported by IANS.

Selected workers can anticipate a monthly salary of Rs 1.25 lakh, supplemented by an additional Rs 15,000 monthly bonus. These earnings will be deposited with the employing company and disbursed to the worker upon the completion of their tenure, the report said.

In previous discussions, India and Israel had mutually consented to facilitate the employment of 42,000 Indian people in Israel, with 34,000 earmarked for construction roles. Israel's labour shortages have been exacerbated by the ongoing tensions with Palestine, leading to the cancellation of work permits for Palestinians and intensifying the need for foreign workers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently engaged in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, focusing on the acceleration of Indian worker deployment to Israel.

It is to be noted that on December 15, the Haryana government also publicised a call for 10,000 skilled workers for similar roles. However, this move attracted criticism from the opposition, given concerns about sending individuals to a region experiencing conflict.

Haryana's appeal sought expertise in areas like framework construction, shuttering, iron bending, ceramic tile installation, and plastering, offering remuneration exceeding Rs 1.55 lakh monthly for a contract not surpassing 63 months.

According to the IANS report, the government has outlined specific criteria for applicants. Prospective workers must demonstrate proficiency in at least one specified skill and possess a valid passport. Alternatively, assistance will be provided for obtaining a Tatkal passport. Successful applicants must commit to a contract ranging from one to five years and should not have any prior work experience in Israel. Additionally, candidates, aged between 21 and 45 years, are responsible for their travel arrangements to and from Israel and must boast a minimum of three years of experience in the designated field.
