Meerut Circle Officer Devesh Singh told the news agency that the vercity of the video was being ascertained. The purported video was tweeted by district convener of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell, Digvijay Singh, claiming that namaz was offered at S2S Square Complex located on Garh road.

Replying to Singh's tweet, the Meerut police said that the Nauchandi police station incharge has been asked to investigate the matter.

This comes weeks after a major controversy was sparked for a similar incident that took place in Lucknow's recently inaugurated Lulu mall, forcing the police to make arrests for offering prayers in an "unathorised manner". Followign the arrests of the four accused, an Ayodhya-based seer Mahant Paramhans was also detained by the Police after he was trying to enter the mall premises.
