A woman was beaten to death with an iron rod in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria on Saturday while attempting to save her brother from a mob. On Friday, Shailesh Sahni was attacked in Kurmouta Thakur village by a group of people with whom his family had a long-standing feud, news agency PTI reported citing PTI.
According to SP Sankalp Sharma, Alka Sahni (25) rushed to her brother's aid after learning about the incident, and the group, which included Jitendra Singh and Raju Singh, attacked with an iron rod.
Alka died on the spot, he said.
The SP stated that Saini's family had a long-standing feud with Jitendra Singh and Raju Singh over land. The victim's family had moved out of the village about a year ago as a result of this, but Sahni had only returned on Thursday night, he said.
He stated that the body had been sent for a post-mortem examination and that further legal action would be taken.

In the month of January, an elderly woman died after being beaten up by her grandson and daughter-in-law over a property dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Hariharpur village under the jurisdiction of the Unj police station. Abhiraji Devi (70), according to police, lived with her two sons Girija Shankar Pal and Jata Shankar Pal.
Girija's wife Phula Devi frequently argued with Abhiraji about the house's partition, but the elderly woman was opposed.
Last year, a 50-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her son in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, the accused had an argument with his mother, after which he hit her with a wooden club, killing her on the spot, in a fit of rage. The woman had suffered severe injuries to her head and leg, according to the investigation.
