Twenty-four shops were gutted in a fire that broke out on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh's Kath Bazar area. Fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the flame and no casualties in the matter were reported so far. Superintendent  of Police (Firozabad) Sarvesh Kumar Mishra while talking to news agency ANI said that the fire was yet to be controlled and that the area was evacuated.

SP Mishra told ANI, "We received the information about an hour ago that a fire broke out in the Kath Bazar area where furniture work is carried out...It was a big fire...The fire is yet to be controlled. The area has been evacuated. There is no information on any casualty yet. Around 24 shops have been gutted in the fire."

In another incident earlier, a massive fire broke out in a flat on the first floor of an eight-storey residential building in Mumbai last week and led to the death of two people. Around eight fire engines and other vehicles of the fire brigade were rushed to the spot to douse the flames, said officials. News agency PTI quoted a fire department official as saying, "Fire-fighting operation is going on with the help of two small hose lines and one first aid line of four motor pumps."
