Flood in UP: Indian Air Force has been deployed in a rescue mission for flood-affected regions in UP. Air Force helicopters are dropping relief materials in flood-affected areas. Three Air Force helicopters have been deployed in Jalaun for relief and rescue operations. 5000 kg of relief material was dropped from these choppers.


In Varanasi too the situation is worsening due to floods. Here, the Ganga is flowing about 13 centimetres above the danger mark. Ganga water has entered dozens of streets situated across the Varuna river, including Maruti Nagar, Janakinagar, Samne Ghat, Assi Ghat. Houses are completely submerged in water. People are leaving their homes and heading to safer places. NDRF teams are continuously engaged in relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas.

Assi Ghat of Varanasi has been completely submerged. The region is ten feet under the water. All the daily activities and operations on the Ghat are halted. Ganga water has also entered nearby restaurants, shops, and houses. The boat is floating on the streets due to flood water. People are affected due to floods in Varanasi. Their business is stalled. The flood crisis along with the Covid-19 pandemic has created a livelihood problem for the people living in these areas.


Ganga, Yamuna rivers flowing above the danger mark


In Prayagraj Ganga and Yamuna rivers are maintaining an upstream trend. Thousands of houses have been submerged in the floods. In the lowland regions, the flood water has reached till the first floor. Seeing the situation of floods, the administration has issued a red alert. Boats are seen floating on many roads in several areas.  Millions of people have been affected by the floods. Thousands of people have taken shelter in flood relief camps and other safe places. Many people are left stranded looking for help. The administration has deployed teams of NDRF and SDRF, which are continuously carrying out relief and rescue operations.


Kanpur markets also affected 


Kanpur has been hit hard by heavy rains. People are facing a lot of trouble as floodwater enters various places in the city. The markets have also been washed away. With floodwater everywhere, cars and other vehicles are driving under great caution. Waterlogging has increased the risk of spreading various diseases in flood-hit cities.


The River Ganga causing havoc in the Ballia district as well. The lowland areas of the city have been engulfed by floodwater. The floodwater has entered people's residences. NDRF teams are evacuating people from the danger areas. The region around the Sanichari temple and the Nihora Rai Colony is the worst affected The administration has also asked people in other parts of the city to remain vigilant. If water continues to rise in the Ganga, many other colonies will be facing the same situation. The administration and the government are also keeping a close watch on the floods in Ballia. Yesterday, the Minister-in-charge of Ballia, Anil Rajbhar, reached Baria and took notice of the people affected by the situation. However, some people here also looked angry and disappointed with the government. 


Yamuna in Banda about 3 m above the danger mark


The Yamuna in Banda is flowing about 3 metres above the danger mark and the Ken river 1 meter below the red mark. Thus, the flood water has entered more than 50 villages of the district. The administration has closed the Banda-Bahraich highway as a precautionary measure, stalling the movement of vehicles on the Kanpur-Lucknow route. Villages in Augasi, Chilla, Jaspura, Pailani, and Tindwari areas of Baberu are the worst affected by the floods.


In Unnao too, the rising water level of the River Ganga has added to the woes of the people living in the foothills. Flood water has reached Balu Ghat, Sitaram Colony, Indra Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Katri, Ravidas Nagar of Sadar Tehsil area. People have started migrating to safer places.


The floods have disrupted the normal life of the people. Many streets have also lost contact with the city headquarters. People have to wander for fodder and water for their cattle. On the directions of the district administration, the accountants conducted the survey 15 days ago but no help reached the needy. This clearly shows that the preparations of the administration are limited to papers and not in reality.
