In anticipation of the festive season and various scheduled events, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police have issued an order imposing restrictions under CrPC Section 144 across Noida and Greater Noida. These restrictions, in effect from October 15 to 31, encompass a prohibition on unauthorised assemblies of more than five people and processions, among other measures. As per the order, religious activities, including Namaz, puja, or any other religious practice, will not be permitted in public places unless explicitly allowed by the police, news agency PTI reported.

This directive comes ahead of Navratri, a significant Hindu festival.

Of particular note, the order specifies that religious activities, including puja and Namaz, will not be sanctioned at any controversial locations where they have not traditionally occurred, nor should anyone incite others to do so, as per PTI's report. The order underscores the need to respect the religious texts of all faiths and prohibits the placement of religious flags, posters, or banners on the walls of religious places, as well as discouraging such actions.

The schedule for the upcoming weeks is marked by various festivals and events. Navratri begins on October 15, followed by Maharaja Agrasain Jayanti on October 23, and Dussehra on October 24. Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti is observed on October 28, while October 31 is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Acharya Narendra Dev. Additionally, the region is hosting several examinations conducted by government bodies, commissions, and councils, with scheduling details often provided close to the due date. Simultaneously, various programs, including protests and demonstrations, are a common occurrence.

The order mentioned the potential for anti-social elements to disrupt the peace and harmony in the region, especially in light of expected protests by political party workers, Indian farmer organizations, and other demonstrators. Additional DCP (law and order) Hridesh Katheria, in the order detailing the CrPC 144 restrictions, highlights the necessity of preventing activities that might create an unfavorable environment and disturb the peace in Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The order warns that legal action will be taken against offenders under IPC Section 188 for disobedience of orders issued by government officials.
