When the victim's father couldn't find him, he approached the police on Wednesday.
As per TOI, the police advised him to look for his son at his relatives' places. The police then deployed teams from the crime branch and surveillance to find the whereabouts of the child. Police traced the mobile number connected to the ransom call that led them to a 17-year-old teenager, a school dropout living in the same neighbourhood.
The teenager was detained and later confessed to sexually assaulting and subsequently killing the kid. "The accused has been sent to a juvenile home. The victim's body was handed over to the family after an autopsy," SSP OP Singh said, reported TOI.
