UP News: The water level of rivers Ganga and Yamuna has been rising continuously and has started entering the low-lying areas. Ganga and Yamuna, however, are still far from the danger mark, but water has entered Baghada, Salori, and Rajapur areas.
On Wednesday, water entered Shri Bade Hanuman Ji temple in Prayagraj as the water level in Ganga and Yamuna Rivers rose following incessant rainfall in the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest bulletin, has said that Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive more rainfall in the coming days. According to the weather office, the state will receive widespread heavy rainfall till August 11.
Meanwhile in Bihar, continuous downpour in the Son River basin is affecting other rivers, including the Ganga, in Bihar, which are also recording a rise in the levels, news agency IANS reported on Tuesday. The water level of the Ganga River in Patna was nearing the danger mark as per the last reports.
The Son River's water level has reached its highest in 13 years, with over 150 mm of rainfall in the catchment area in the past 48 hours. Heavy rain in 11 districts of Madhya Pradesh, five districts of Chhattisgarh, and one district of Jharkhand are impacting the rivers of South Bihar.
