A 17-year-old girl was abducted from Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district by a 21-year-old man. The teenager was brought to Lucknow, where she was allegedly drugged and raped by the man and his aide.
Sandeep Kumar, who runs a salon in Barabanki has been arrested by the police as the main accused, IANS reported. Kumar runs a salon in Barabanki.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Barabanki, Chiranjeev Nath Sinha informed the media that no other arrest has been made in the case as of now. However, he assured of appropriate action if any other person is suspected guilty under further investigation.

The victim's father has alleged that the local police in Masauli refused to register his complaint initially. A complaint was registered only after the father met the Superintendent of Police in Barabanki, according to the IANS report.
The father told the news agency that police officials in Masauli threatened him and forced him not to register a case. He further added that the victim may attempt suicide if she does not get justice.
According to the victim's father, she was abducted after she left for a coaching institute on January 3, at 11 pm. The victim was allegedly abducted and dragged into a car from the village crossing after which she was sedated and taken to a house in Lucknow where she was raped.

The victim managed to escape after she regained consciousness the next day around 2:30 pm and took a taxi back home, according to the IANS report.
The investigation is still on in the case and the accused has been charged under section 376D (gang-rape) of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
