Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who was addressing the UP Global Investors Summit in Lucknow on Friday, said that trade and industry suffered in the past due to pseudo-secularism, but the government has now taken a new approach to promote businesses.

"Through pseudo-secularism, not only industrialists were prevented from moving forward but established industries were also hampered...Govt has put forward a new vision for the business community. Today the business community is looked upon with respect and trust," the defence minister said, according to the news agency ANI.

However, in the past few years, the government has pushed for economic growth and adopted a new approach in terms of attracting the business community or developing the infrastructure. “All legal, documentation issues which became red tape for the business community have now been turned into the red carpet for investors. Today business communities are seen as wealth creators who have become major contributors to the development,” added Singh.
