New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gorakhpur today to inaugurate multiple projects worth Rs 9600 crore. The projects include a fertilizer plant, AIIMS Gorakhpur, and the ICMR- Regional Medical Research Centre.


“Tomorrow, 7th December is a special day for the development trajectory of Uttar Pradesh, especially Purvanchal. At a programme in Gorakhpur, projects worth Rs. 9,600 crore would be dedicated to the nation,” he wrote on Twitter talking about his visit.







In a series of tweets, he briefed about the projects being inaugurated and their benefits for the people of eastern UP. One of the three major projects is the Gorakhpur fertilizer plant which is being revived after 30 years. 


According to a press release by the PMO, the plant is built at a cost of Rs 8,600 crores and will produce 12.7 LMT of urea which will benefit the farmers of eastern UP and boost the overall growth of the whole Purvanchal region.


“It makes me very happy that the Gorakhpur Fertiliser Plant will be revived after remaining shut for over 30 years. This plant is important in order to become Aatmanirbhar in urea production. Will also dedicate to the nation the AIIMS Gorakhpur, which will strengthen health infra,” he tweeted.





The PM also talked about AIIMS Gorakhpur built at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna. The project is expected to provide healthcare services to people across the state of UP, Bihar and as far as Nepal.


He further talked about the third major project being inaugurated, i.e. ICMR’s Regional Medical Research Centre which will open new horizons of research in communicable and non-communicable diseases and provide support for other medical institutes in the region, as per the press release.


He further added “I will also inaugurate the new building of the ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre. This Centre has played a key role in curing people of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome. The UP Government has made commendable efforts in the last 4 years in this area.” 





According to ANI, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had reached Gorakhpur on Monday evening to supervise the preparations of the event. On Sunday, CM Yogi had accused the previous regimes of ignoring development in eastern UP.
