New Delhi: Stressing that there was no place for riots in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said not even an altercation took place during Ram Navami celebrations in the state despite it coinciding with Ramzan.
Speaking at an event on Tuesday, Adityanath said Ram Navami-related processions were taken out at 800 places in the state, PTI reported.
"It is also the month of Ramzan and roza-iftar programmes are also being held. Nowhere has there been any 'tu-tu, main-main', leave alone rioting," PTI quoted Adityanath as saying.

Adityanath's remarks come days after violence marred Ram Navami celebrations in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Gujarat.
One person died and 12 others were injured in Jharkhand, while curfew was clamped in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone city after stones were pelted at a Ram Navami procession.
In Gujarat, police arrested nine people for violence and stone-pelting during a Ram Navami procession at Khambat in Anand district.
At the event, Adityanath said the situation during Ram Navami reflected the new thinking towards development in UP.
"There is no place for danga-phasad' (rioting), anarchy, goodaism and rumour-mongering. Uttar Pradesh has proved this on the occasion of Ram Navami, the pious 'jayanti' of 'Maryada Purshottam Shri Ram'," Adityanath said.

Provocative remarks by Bajrang Muni Das were allegedly made in Sitapur on the first day of Ram Navami. The seer has been booked, but no arrest made so far.
In the run-up to the assembly polls, Adityanath had repeatedly claimed that while communal clashes were a common feature in UP in the past, no riot had taken place in the state after BJP assumed power in 2017.
