New Delhi: Twenty-three school students from two schools in Uttar Pradesh's Noida, have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last two days which is raising an alarm across the state. 


Noida has reported 54 infections of Covid 19 in the last 48 hours with most of the cases registered from schools.



On Monday, Three students enrolled at two private schools in Ghaziabad tested positive for coronavirus, while 16 cases including three among teachers were reported from a school in Noida.


One of the schools, located in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram, announced three days' closure while the school in Noida moved to online mode of classes for a week in a bid to break the chain of infection, according to their officials.


Ghaziabad Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bhavtosh Shankhdhar said that of the three students, two are from one school and of these two, one lives in Noida.

"Their COVID-19 test results were known while the students were at their homes and not in school. We will be carrying our tests and vaccinations in the schools," the doctor told PTI.


India has reported a surge in Covid 19 cases after the daily surge in infections surpassed the 1000-mark again on Tuesday. The country logged India 1,088 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.


With this, India's active cases at present stand at 10,870, comprising 0.03 per cent of the total infections.


A reduction of 19 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
