Uttarakhand: The Himalayan state of Uttarakhand landed into trouble again this year as monsoon made its way into Northern India. Another massive landslide in the state caused due to heavy rains, blocked the road near near Patalganga Langsi Tunnel on Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli district on Wednesday.





Sharing about the road blockade caused due to the landslide, the Uttarakhand Police wrote: "The road has has been blocked due to a landslide from the hill near Patalganga Langsi Tunnel on Badrinath Highway." 






In the video, a large portion of the hill can be seen falling on the road near the tunnel, which blocked the national highway. 


There have been no reports of casualtie or injuries so far.


The Chamoli police also shared visuals of the landslide. It also shared an image of the road blockade and asked people to stay patient.


"The Badrinath National Highway is blocked near the Patalganga Tunnel due to a landslide. Please remain patient," Chamoli police wrote on X.







 


The district disaster management office told news agency PTI that the landslide occured around 11:15 am, and added: "It fell over the mouth of a tunnel along the national highway damaging it in the process as it carried with it lakhs of tonnes of soil, stones and big boulders."


A resident of Lanji village told PTI that the landslide was so powerful that the entire Alaknanda and Patal Ganga valley seemed to tremble for a few seconds.  


Landslides caused due to torrential rains in Uttarakhand also blocked the Joshimath highway. SDRF commandant Manikant Mishra told ABP that the water levels in Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand have increased.


The Bardinath highway had been obstructed earlier today and the authorities were clearing the debris when the landslide took place.


As per Pithoragarh's disaster emrgency operation centre, at least 21 roads remained blocked due to the landslides that were trigerred by rains.


The Badrinath highway was blocked by a landslide at Pagal Nala near Chamoli's Lambagad, while the Yamunotri highway was blocked by a landslide in Dabarkot in Uttarkashi.
