Divorce Over Kurkure? Agra Woman Seeks Separation After Husband Forgets To Buy Her Packet Of Snack

New Delhi: In a bizarre incident reported from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, a woman has filed for divorce after her husband failed to fulfill her craving for Kurkure, a popular packaged snack. The woman's addiction to the spicy munchies led to a daily routine of requesting her husband to procure a Rs 5 packet of Kurkure.

However, tensions arose when he forgot to bring home the snack one day, sparking a dispute between the couple, according to a report in Hindustan Times.

Following her disappointment over being denied her daily indulgence, the woman reportedly left her marital home and went to her parents' home. Subsequently, she later approached the police seeking a divorce. However, the Shahganj police in Agra intervened by sending the couple for family counseling.

The couple, tied the knot just last year and in the initial months, everything seemed to be going well. However, as time went by, the husband expressed concerns about his wife's persistent craving for Kurkure, which she insisted on daily.

Wife Alleged Her Husband Beat Her

The wife alleged that she went to her parental home as her husband beat her, reported Hindustan Times.

Recently, another couple in Agra sought divorce after daily disagreements arose over the wife's refusal to wear sarees of her husband's choice. 

Kurkure, the spicy and crunchy puffcorn snack introduced by PepsiCo in India in 1999, has garnered popularity not only in India but also in Pakistan.

In response to health concerns, PepsiCo announced plans in 2018 to reduce the salt content in Kurkure. Available in four flavors in India—Masala Munch, Kurkure Playz Puffcorn Yummy Cheez, Chilli Chatka, and Naughty Tomato, Kurkure has featured top Bollywood actors like Juhi Chawla, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Sara Ali Khan in its commercials.

However, in 2015, Kurkure was among the packaged snacks subjected to lab tests by food safety authorities in Delhi.
