One person died while two were seriously injured and three went missing after a car with eight passengers fell into a canal in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr under the limits of Jahangirpur police stations in the wee hours of Monday, reported ANI.
A search operation was underway to find the missing people.
"A car with 8 passengers fell into a canal, 5 were rescued, among them one child has succumbed, two are seriously injured and two are unhurt," said Bulandshahr District Magistrate, Chandra Prakash Singh.
"Rescue operation is underway to find the 3 missing people, NDRF and SDRF are also coming," he added, while speaking to news agency ANI.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and has announced an ex gratia of Rupees 4 lakh to the kin of the dead, the DM added.
On Sunday, four people were reported dead on the spot after a truck overturned on their car in Pipri area of Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district, said the police, according to PTI.
The deaceased, identified as Deepak Sharma, Ramayan Sharma, Reeta Sharma, and Sukwari Sharma were travelling in their car when a truck caryying ash overturned on their vehicle, said Pipri SHO Sri Ram Yadav.

All the four victims died on spot, as per the PTI report, adding the police managed to recover their bodies after hours with the help of locals.
Their bodies were later sent for post-mortem.
"Deepak Sharma was a native of Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh. They were on their way to Varanasi," Yadav said.
