New Delhi: BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress have been competing with each other over "who is a bigger 'Hindutvavadi' and a 'Hindu bhakt'." She further stated that both parties are ignoring all other religions apart from Hinduism for their personal gain.

Addressing the media, Mayawati said, "For some time now, BJP and Congress have been competing with each other that who is a bigger 'Hindutvavadi' and a 'Hindu bhakt'."

She added, "This makes it clear, that both of them are ignoring all other religions, this is against the Constitution...That is why both parties should take care of other communities too. This will be appropriate..."

Meanwhile, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has decided to project Mayawati as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, reported IANS.

Senior BSP leader Bhimrao Ambedkar said, "The leaders of the opposition are holding meetings in various states to prepare the groundwork for the opposition parties to fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Even after several rounds of meetings, it is not clear as to who would be the Prime Ministerial candidate from the opposition."

The BSP, however, has decided to project party chief Mayawati as the PM candidate," he said.
