Chennai: From now on, the people who are refusing to take Covid-19 vaccine and follow other safety protocols will not be eligible to get free coronavirus treatment in Kerala. In a Covid-19 review meeting held on Tuesday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the government will not bear the cost of the people who test Covid positive without taking the vaccine.
According to a report on PTI, in a release issued by the Kerala government after the meet, the government said that those people who are not in a position to get vaccine due to health issues or age factors should produce a medical certificate from a government hospital or Primary Health Centre.

According to the release, the government also instructed the district collectors and health department officials to conduct a special vaccination drive from December 1 to 15 across the state.
Meanwhile, as schools have reopened in Kerala, the Chief Minister said that the teachers and other staff members who are unable to take Covid-19 vaccination should produce doctor's certificate from a government facility or they should get the vaccination done.

Also, those teachers who are unable to take the vaccine should produce a negative Covid-19 certificate every week by taking a test at their own cost in order to ensure the safety of the students.
However, Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty said that the teachers who did not take the vaccination yet must stick to conducting only online classes.
